1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Cedrion Holdings (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the BowelBrief mobile application. BowelBrief is a private stool, food, and digestive-health tracker. This policy applies to the currently published version of BowelBrief.
2. Information you may record
BowelBrief allows you to enter or create:
- Bowel-movement dates, times, Bristol stool types, colors, amounts, and related observations;
- Digestive symptoms, pain, urgency, straining, blood, mucus, and other health notes;
- Food, drink, hydration, medication, supplement, stress, sleep, and menstrual-cycle context;
- Optional photographs and free-text notes; and
- PDF reports and JSON backup files that you choose to create.
3. Where your information is stored
BowelBrief is local-first. Journal entries and attached photographs are stored in app-specific storage on your device. The current app does not require an account and does not transmit your journal, photographs, or reports to a Cedrion Holdings server.
4. Device permissions
BowelBrief requests only permissions used for features you choose:
- Camera: to take an optional bowel-movement photograph.
- Selected photos: to import a photograph you specifically select.
- Biometrics: to let the operating system verify fingerprint or face authentication for app access.
- Notifications: to deliver optional local logging reminders.
BowelBrief does not receive fingerprint or facial templates. The operating system performs biometric matching and returns only an authentication result. You may deny optional permissions, although the related feature may not work.
5. Photographs
A photograph is optional. Photographs captured or selected for BowelBrief are copied into app-specific storage and are not intentionally added to the device’s public photo gallery. Photo previews are blurred by default. You can replace or delete a photo through its journal entry.
6. Reports, backups, and sharing
You may create a PDF report or JSON backup and select where to send or save it through your device’s sharing interface. Photographs are excluded from JSON backups. They are excluded from PDF reports unless you explicitly choose to include them. Once exported, a file is no longer protected by BowelBrief’s PIN screen; the receiving app or storage location controls that copy.
7. Advertising, analytics, and sharing with third parties
The current version of BowelBrief contains no advertising, behavioral analytics, data brokerage, developer-operated cloud sync, or sale of personal information. Because journal data is processed locally, Cedrion Holdings does not collect or share it. Information you export is shared only with destinations you select.
8. Security
BowelBrief uses app-specific device storage and offers PIN and biometric access controls. The PIN is not stored in readable form; the app stores a salted verification value using protected device storage. No method of device storage is risk-free. You are responsible for securing your device and any files you export.
9. Retention and deletion
Journal information remains on your device until you delete an entry, use the in-app “Delete all journal data” control, or uninstall BowelBrief. Deleting all journal data permanently removes entries and app-private photos. Exported files must be deleted separately from the location where you saved or shared them.
10. Children’s privacy
BowelBrief is intended for adults aged 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s data through BowelBrief because the current app does not transmit journal data to Cedrion Holdings.
11. Health disclaimer
BowelBrief supports personal recordkeeping and communication with healthcare professionals. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. It does not provide emergency services. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and contact local emergency services when appropriate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when BowelBrief’s features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected here and, when appropriate, in the app.
